Augury
I gathered here to dance barefoot
On the moss carpet of the clearing
The black bird’s flight unseen
As quickly as I glimpsed it
An impossible weaving—
Through spaces clustered with life
Evergreen trees always making room
For one more to reach toward light
For this, a single raven invited to fly
Through a density of forest
To dance among the lanky swayers
Her wing span reach welcomed in
Witnessed, slicing the air slanted
As if more propelled by the cosmic
connective web space
Between pillars of fir, than repelled
The black bird’s appearance &
disappearance of impossibility
Buoys my reading of her flight;
Auspiciously
Entering my dance at edge of forest
Reminding me of Everything
Bleeping in and out of existence
Everything of density, in quantum
Everything dances in spaciousness
Even headed into darkness
We are moving toward the light
We are buoyed by the light
We are of the light—
Anything is possible.
