Looking Through
I long to belong in one church
Made of doors and windows
That distills & amplifies the light
The confusing light that both
Blinds & casts shadows upon our days
Yet illumines & allures of beautiful mystery
I long to step inside
The double doors of many panes
The walls of many windows stained
And feel the follow through
Of my intentions—to belong in the rows
To commit to the offerings
Of structures of faith
Of shapes of sanctuary
Of lines of liturgy
I long to belong in one church
To step inside and feel the expansion
The expansion I feel among the trees,
Barefoot dancing on the earth, or
in the quiet of morning mist of mind or
Sea placing me on the edges of infinity
I have collected framed windows &
doors of many panes all my life
I have painted and rearranged them
As if to rebuild them in a way for me
to belong to a structure I long for
A structure made of framed glass
That distills & amplifies the light
The confusing light that both
Blinds & casts shadows upon our days
Yet illumines & allures of the beautiful mystery
That keeps rearranging to show me a different
Truth, an evolving Truth—
The beautiful infinite Truth of this mysterious
luminous experience of what it is to be Alive
I will keep looking through new frames and panes
made of glass upon the earth
I will keep painting and creatively rearranging
them making poetry, art and dance as prayer
I will keep looking through the eyes of all the
artists of the world bravely sharing their frames
made of glass—
A framed reveal of their unique soul wisdom
Blessed be the infinite doors and windows
The creative freedom to find our own
path with Spirit
And when they become painted shut,
clouded, locked or rearranged
May we find your next way through
Always remembering we all belong
in the luminous, the ONE church—
The Mystery of Aliveness
