1000 Moments
I still know the moment when I lost
my trust in the Universe—
With my child’s last breath
Yet I will never know the moment
when I found my trust again
Somewhere within a 1000 moments
Somewhere in the sea of compassion
Within my ocean of grief
As if the imperceptible shifts of liquid
thermals surrounding my skin
became like a universal womb of love
Somewhere within a 1000 moments
Somewhere in the fields of generosity
In the barren landscape
I traversed in confusion over and over
As if my barefoot steps on earth
Held me to pause again & again
to see another tiny miracle of life
In revelation before me
Somewhere within a 1000 moments
Somewhere in the sky of Mystery
In the spirals of light & shadows
As if my breath taken along with my trust
returned to me little by little
one inhale & exhale at a time…
until I could feel each alveoli of my lungs
each one breathing fully open into
the softness of my belly again
Somewhere within a 1000 moments
Somewhere in the river of stories
Coswimming within all the Stories
As if my mind rewrote the past
With the swirling ink of joy from the future
until the bittersweetness of yesterday
Became ever less bitter
ever more sweet with each of my todays
Somewhere within a 1000 moments
Somewhere in the climb up the mountain
of rebuilding my trust in the Universe
for every path obscured, disappeared,
lost in the wilderness of grief
there appeared a cairn stacked by another
before me, like a mysterious hand
gently slipped into mine
Pulling me up toward something
much greater than me
Somewhere within a 1000 moments
There was a returning
A coming home anew to trust
in my breath, in my steps,
in my skin, in my mind,
in my heart, in my belly,
in my hands, in my womb
That my Life is not about me,
That it was never about me
That my Life is entirely about
The whole of beyond me,
Something greater than myself
In this I trust,
This wholeness beyond~that includes me
In the Universal Womb,
In the Great story,
In the Mystery
In the breath of life
In the Love of belonging
In the miracle of being Alive!
In this I trust the Universe
