Wishen-Ade Stand

At the corner of white picket fence

And bluegrass backyard alley,

The wishen-ade stand waits

for a thirsty heart,

No glass jar eager for payment

Only a collection of emotive pauses

No paper cups stacked for take away

Only tubular stalks brimmed

with lacy seeds to fly away

No hand painted signs

advertising the homemade goods

Only patterns of white,

flagging me down—

nature-made spheres &

handmade pillars

As if to Read—

“make a wish here”

“Free samples, Self serve”

“Fresh squeezed, stirred with love”

“A fundraiser for your child’s heart”

“Make a wish here—

and drink in the wild nectar of aliveness”

At the corner of white picket fence

and bluegrass backyard alley

The wishen-ade stand waits

for a thirsty heart,

Dreams always on tap here
