“SunPlums”
What if to drink in light
On the face of each day
We must soften,
expose ourselves to vulnerability
What thirst for life in water
taken in through
The roots of darkness
What patience with the longing
Under clouds elusive measure
What desire in the fire
Within seed of our unique gifts
What ache of ripening to become
The full taste of ourselves—
The essence of our sunplum
What if the hope unfolding
in each of us
Is not diminished by ambiguity
Yet amplified with the uncertainty
of life
What if to rise again, each day
IS our embodied prayer—
to surrender,
to soften,
to open to our sunplumming
With nature in order to shine,
In order to offer the sweetest
rendering of our flesh
for the world to kiss
