Rainbow Weather
I feel the shift coming
Before I see the change
The change coming
Toward me, From behind
Pressing on the back of my heart
Where I carry all the
Ache of uncertainty
All the love & grief for all the suffering
The suffering beyond my control,
The pain body for the world
I feel the sun filling, slipping through
cracks in the density of rain,
Where the light & dark dance
Together, Casting rainbows
Much beyond my gaze
Touching down in places
I glimpse in awe, yet
I can never inhabit
I feel the shift coming
The rainbow making weather
Coming toward me
From behind, as if the Hand of God
Places her palm
On the back of my heart
Squarely between my shoulders
Acknowledging my compassion
Reminding me of my infinite smallness
Yet assuring me that I too
Make rainbows—
In my casting of prayers for the planet
Pressing out from the back of my heart
As I feel the love filling, slipping through
Cracks in the density of pain
Where the light & the dark dance
Much beyond my understanding
Touching down in places
I glimpse in my reverence,
Yet I can never inhabit
I feel the shift coming
For the world even though
I may never live to see the change
I will rise each day
To make more rainbows…
Together,
May we make rainbow weather
