Power Outrage
What is this pressing to make
When lights suddenly dim
This urgent yearning to create
UpSwelling over the brim?
As if the power outage
Of house, flips a switch
Surging a strange outrage
Beyond control—an unstitch
What was rolling along
Under the utilities of life
Short circuits the inner calm
Awakens our deep strife
As if a small piece half-made
Lies here undone, just one day
This art of our soul displayed
An unraveling of delicate Way
What is revealed as ours
In personal power then?
If a power outage of hours
Must be over, right when?
The outage shocks our skelter
How Art IS What’s primal, vital
Like water, light and shelter
How important to our survival!
In the dim glow after-light
The colors allow the mixing
Of the quiet internal fright
The art forgives—no need of fixing!
