Early?
Every Winter they seem to rise earlier
The first new shoots, reaching
To speak to sky
As if to defy the deep rest
of Winter sleep,
Like a toddler giving up their afternoon nap
When the curiosity of Aliveness
overtakes, awakening awe!
Every Winter the new green
Comes early, catching me in surprise!
A delight that comes with forgiveness
For all that I have left undone
How still I will rise to greet the sky
In wonder of Winter, in my reach
May my deep rest be in my curiosity—
My reawakening of awe in the new Life
Birthed from earth, birthed from death
While leaving all that I have released, shed,
on the ground undisturbed, undone
What will come up early in me?
Catching me by surprise!
Like a toddler climbing out
of the crib for the first time,
Dropping down, to dance upon the messy
of shucking & sluffing, flicking & flinging
To dance upon the messy—
Barefoot, curious and set free🌀
