Toppling

Our metaphors are changing

What was strong enough to bend

With the climate winds severity

Now a toppling, pointing toward an end

Once putting down roots of support

Now upswirling, changes of direction

Uprooted, pointing toward survival

With mass climate migration

What does not kill you

Makes you stronger

Yet with mass extinction in view—

We weaken, with species no longer

May weather extremes soon birth

A toppling of our modern way of life

Or a return to the ways of earth

The new consciousness midwife

**When damaging winds originate from uncommon directions, it increases the risk of toppling trees because many root systems "build up" over time to support more typical wind directions,
