Falling Up

Springs kisses Fall

On the forehead

Of Winter’s empty dreams

What leaves us behind

In ghosts of releasing

Pushes up anew

In spaces forgiven—

Cherished gifts never wished

Upon anyone, and yet…

Within tender bareness of soul

Unspeakable grief fallowed in

The underbelly of sweet bleak

Becomes an unstoppable soil of heart

Fecundity, Falling up to sky

With new life, affirming shoots of hope

Defying gravity of loss

Winter’s sleep held in the arms

of Spring and Fall

Awakens mysterious growth—

Stunningly, bearing the unbearable
