Beached
In the stillness here
An immovability I would never choose
Waiting pressed into the earth
For the lift beyond me, To approach
In the stillness here
Beached on the edges of time
The impossible weight of the bones
of my dependence, primally known
In the stillness here
Where only in the surrender
to my cosmic interdependence
From behind & underneath,
Like tidal rush, arrives a float
Oh how I long to know the body
of a nurse log or a whale fall
Giving itself over to new snail or leaf
To the abundant diversity of life
How to feel the forever in my brief
In the stillness here
I will always now choose
Attunement with the precious reality
How temporal & wild my body
How intimately dependent, my vitality
In the stillness here
In the beached
I sense into something wondrous
Ineffable, Just beyond my reach
