Library of Kindness

Here perched on posts

In handmade nooks

This neighborhood hosts

Lending of beyond books

Little libraries stand

At curbs, or way ends

Giving words a free hand

With much more to lend

Jigsaw puzzles borrowed

Or exchanged for new

May pasta, rice be followed

By cans of soup or stew

What more now can we

Imagine in our hearts

To lend with generosity?

What connections be start?

We may no longer knock

On doors for cups of flour

Or leave our doors unlock

No friend to call any hour

Yet with little steps in strive

To bridge the gap of need

May we cross a loneliness divide

With planting community seeds

Blessed be generosity.
