Connected

To make an altar

For connection

A bridge of rocks

Built without mortar or bolts

Yet veins of crystalline white blood

Reaching through the density

Made without sun

To make an altar

For connection

A tableau of earth

Swept without sand or air

Yet ancient rivers formed of rivulets

Swimming across the space

Made without rain

To make an altar

For connection

If I brought one beloved rock and

you brought another

And we Placed them here together

In the nestling of them

from landscapes afar

With intention, magically

We make a connection—

Of patterns, pieces of you

Intersecting, pieces of me

Of pauses, the spaces in between

No different than the

Patterns of our bones

No different than the

Spaces between our cells

On the altar

of our open hearts—

A holy bridge of connection
